Codetta Music Performance Examinations (CMPE) is an innovative performance-based examination system divided into 9 stages:

PREPARATORY STAGE:
Any 3 pieces at the preparatory level.
ELEMENTARY STAGE 1:
3 pieces: one each from i) Baroque; ii) Classical; and iii) Romantic or Post-Romantic periods.
ELEMENTARY STAGE 2:
3 pieces: one each from i) Baroque; ii) Classical; and iii) Romantic or Post-Romantic periods.
INTERMEDIATE STAGE 1:
3 pieces: one each from i) Baroque; ii) Classical, and iii) Romantic or Post-Romantic periods.
INTERMEDIATE STAGE 2:
3 pieces: one each from i) Baroque; ii) Classical, and iii) Romantic or Post-Romantic periods.
SENIOR STAGE 1:
3 pieces: one each from i) Baroque; ii) Classical, and iii) Romantic or Post-Romantic periods.
SENIOR STAGE 2:
4 pieces: one each from i) Baroque; ii) Classical; iii) Romantic; and iv) Post-Romantic periods.
ADVANCED PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE:
5 pieces: one each from i) Baroque; ii) Classical; iii) Romantic; iv) Late 19th/Early 20th Century, and v) 20th/21st Century periods
ARTIST CERTIFICATE:
Own choice of repertoire, comprising of at least 3 pieces from different time periods.
Upon competition of any stage of the examination, the candidate will be emailed their certificate along with the detailed report on their performance.
Partial examinations are available for those candidates who wish to receive feedback on one or two pieces only, or several pieces from the same musical period. These examinations will be evaluated by the same grading matrix, however, a certificate will not be issued.

Ella Porett is the founder and artistic director of the North York Music & Performing Arts Festival, co-founder of Classicalia – The Global Televised Music Competition.
She is a pianist and has decades-long experience both as a judge and an organizer of classical music competitions as well as cultivating a roster of pianists through her own teaching studio, masterclasses and workshops.
She is the author of a method book “Piano World”, and a Senior Examiner with the Royal Conservatory of Music, Canada.
